The SKM453GB12E7 is a Semikron SEMITRANS 3+ IGBT module in a half-bridge configuration, rated 1200 V and 450 A with the Gen 7 chip generation. SEMITRANS 3+ keeps the classic 62 mm housing and external interfaces of SEMITRANS 3, so it is a drop-in fit for an existing mechanical design, while a fully redesigned interior raises the power density, lowers the stray inductance and extends the operating junction temperature to 175 degrees Celsius. The module uses the latest IGBT 7 (Gen 7) chip together with the new CAL7 diodes, which together lower the conduction and switching losses and give a softer diode recovery, so the converter runs cooler and quieter and can switch faster with a smaller turn-off spike. The half-bridge circuit is the building block of a three-phase inverter, so six modules form a compact 1200 V drive or converter stage for an industrial motor drive, a solar string inverter or a UPS. The 175 degree junction rating allows a smaller heatsink, and the higher power-cycling capability and humidity robustness suit outdoor and renewable installations.
